Dr. Tim Meyer

Dr. Tim Meyer wants people to understand the electricity system. Anyone who grasps how grid fees, the merit order and dynamic tariffs fit together makes better decisions — at home as well as in politics. Tim Meyer has been working on renewable energy since the early 1990s: as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, as chief technology officer of a solar group and as a board member of a nationwide green electricity supplier. Today the electrical engineer, who holds a doctorate, is an independent energy expert, keynote speaker and bestselling author. In his book “Strom” he translates the world of energy in a way that works at the kitchen table. With studies such as “Kostensenkungspotenziale im Verteilnetz” (cost-reduction potential in the distribution grid), he provides the factual basis for the political debate.
