Groningen

PULSING METROPOLIS IN THE NORTH OF THE NETHERLANDS

Groningen

Groningen is the metropolis and region in the north of the Netherlands and was voted Europe’s most liveable city in an EU study in the summer of 2007. The country’s youngest city has more than 180,000 inhabitants, more than half of whom are younger than 35 years old. And these provide a unique, vibrant cityscape. The Hanseatic city offers a special combination of characteristic old buildings, state-of-the-art architecture, countless restaurants, outdoor cafés, nightclubs, music festivals and first-class shopping opportunities. But not only the city is worth a trip, also the province of Groningen lures with the national park Lauwersmeer, the small village Bourtange, Pieterburen, borrowing, warften and numerous historical churches.
